Methuen Woman Donates Hand-Made Baby Caps to Panama
Maureen Burns, a resident at Cedar View Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Methuen, has turned her knitting hobby into a way to make a difference. Burns knitted baby hats and donated them to a health clinic in Panama through Licensed Social Worker Kathleen Nackley. The hats were used as incentives for new mothers to bring in their newborn children, especially in a region with high infant and mother mortality rates. Despite not being able to witness the impact firsthand, Burns was thrilled to receive photos of the babies wearing her hats, and she continues to knit for a cause.
